Dove sei andata
chi ci sta al tuo fianco
m'hai detto che restavi a casa
e mi hai mandato in bianco.
Io sto scoppiando
il dubbio mi sta mangiando
Amore dove sei andata?
Con chi stai giocando?
Va bene spassatela pure,
ma chiama come torni a casa.
Allora chiamami,
ti aspetto al telefono
amore, chiamami
rispetta un po' il mio cuore.
Avanti chiamami,
ti aspetto ormai da ore,
ho voglia di tanto amore,
sto morendo dal dolore,
ti prego, chiamami.
Son le cinque del mattino
mi affaccio alla finestra
e mi sento come un bambino
innamorato della sua maestra
con la testa fuori uso
con il cuore a seimila all'ora
che non vuol capire
neanche questa lezione.
Questa attesa mi fa impazzire
e intanto si affaccia il sole.
Che aspetti? Chiamami
ti aspetto al telefono
amore, chiamami,
rispetta un po' il mio cuore
avanti chiamami,
ti aspetto ormai da ore
ho voglia di troppo amore
sto scoppiando dal dolore,
ti prego, chiamami.
Il sole è alto in cielo,
ma io mi sto addormentando,
poi si apre di scatto la porta,
appari tu con un regalo,
io sono un po' confuso,
amore scusa se son geloso.
Tutto questo non mi sembra vero,
non vorrei che stia sognando,
ma la tua camicia è già aperta
e le tue labbra mi stan baciando
e cazzo, amami
ti aspetto sopra al letto,
amore, amami,
ma fallo con affetto,
avanti amami,
ti aspetto ormai ore,
ho voglia di far l'amore,
te lo chiedo per favore,
ti prego, amami.
This piece represents my first composition of any real significance, though it naturally displays some signs of the immaturity typical of the early stages of my creative journey.
The song was written in the first half of the 1990s, in a world vastly different from today’s: mobile phones were still a luxury item, and the most accessible means of communication were landlines and public payphones.
At the time, I was working in a photography shop. While spending hours in the back room developing negatives—a process now entirely obsolete—the melody for the chorus suddenly came to me. Starting from that initial spark, the full structure of the song took shape in a very short time.
Who is by your side?
You told me you were staying home,
but you stood me up
(The Italian idiom "mandare in bianco" literally means to leave someone blank/empty-handed. In a romantic context, it means to stand someone up or deny them intimacy. In English, "stood me up" covers the cancellation of plans, while "left me empty-handed" or "left me high and dry" captures the sexual/romantic frustration).
I am about to burst,
doubt is eating me alive.
My love, where did you go?
Who are you playing with?
Fine, go have your fun,
but call me as soon as you get home.
I'm waiting by the phone.
My love, call me,
show some respect for my heart.
Come on, call me,
I’ve been waiting for hours now.
I crave so much love,
I am dying from the pain,
please, call me.
I look out the window
and I feel like a little boy
in love with his teacher
(This simile "innamorato della sua maestra" evokes a state of total vulnerability, innocence, and lack of control. A child has no power over a teacher, just as the protagonist feels completely helpless and at the mercy of his partner's actions),
with my head out of order,
with my heart racing at six thousand miles an hour
(The Italian "cuore a seimila all'ora" uses a car RPM metaphor—6000 revolutions per minute—to describe tachycardia from anxiety. In English, "racing at a hundred miles an hour" or "heart beating a thousand times a minute" matches this high-velocity anxiety),
who refuses to understand
even this lesson.
This waiting is driving me crazy,
and meanwhile, the sun is coming up.
I'm waiting by the phone.
My love, call me,
show some respect for my heart.
Come on, call me,
I’ve been waiting for hours now.
I crave too much love,
I am bursting from the pain,
please, call me.
but I am falling asleep.
Then the door suddenly flies open,
you appear with a gift.
I am a bit confused...
My love, forgive me for being jealous.
None of this feels real,
I hope I'm not dreaming,
but your shirt is already unbuttoned
and your lips are kissing me.
I'm waiting for you on the bed.
My love, love me,
but do it with affection.
Come on, love me,
I've been waiting for hours now,
I want to make love,
I'm asking you please,
please, love me.
